Java vs. HTML Browsers
If you prefer, the chat session with the Customer Service Agent can be conducted using an HTML-based client rather than a Java-enabled client. The use of this low-bandwidth client would be appropriate in situations where your computer has a slower clock speed (486 or slower) or modem with a slower connection (28.8 kbps or slower).
The HTML client has the identical functionality of the Java client, but may be somewhat slower. The configuration of the screen, however, can be slightly different.
"Pushed" Pages and Files in HTML Client
The Visitor receives Web pages and downloadable files sent by the Agent in the same manner as they would using a Java client. "Pushed" files will display a prompt to "Save to Disk." Some smaller files, however, may be displayed in the browser.
